Aunt Minnie was born in Mound Bayou, Mississippi. Meet Me In St. Louis was opening at the movie theater, television signals were being reserved for this new wave of technology, and families were still gathering for dinner around a big table.

Aunt Minnie and her daughter Claudia would later open a small restaurant in Toledo, Ohio serving the kind of southern-style food that kept people satisfied at the table for hours and talking about their meals for days. She prepared some of her restaurant entrees as frozen take-home packages for her customers to enjoy later and relive the flavor.
